Written by Murray Sackwild and his fictitious writing partner Dick F.B. Fairweather
It is a chase across the cosmos (and beyond) in pursuit of Clement the Golden Ibis – a bird whose 1000 year lifespan is nearly up. It had been foretold that upon his natural death the drinker of his still warm blood will live forever – thus attracting a range of despotic super-villains who seek his capture.
A range of sub-plots interweave but the key characters involved are:
Ludwig Thwait aka The Dynamic Sledgehammer – virtuous and morally upright super-hero who guards his secret identity for the sake of his loved ones although he is oblivious to the fact that everyone knows who he is.
His beloved younger sister, Pessa Laja Thwait, who mysteriously disintegrates at her wedding to Ludwig’s arch-nemesis Wallace W Cheesegrasper.
Cheesegrasper is the central villain and a truly evil character. He has a lengthy back history versus the Sledgehammer but has a near equal hatred for his long time rival villain Grenville “Greenknob” Noble.
These characters and a host of other super villains and super heroes battle across galaxies, and even through time, via a range of ornate space-craft, in pursuit of the bird. Unknowingly their pursuit is driving Clement into the clutches of a far greater evil in the furthest corner of the known universe.
The genre is clearly science fiction – while very violent, at times, also amusing – hence a dark humour sub-genre.
